We train people, employ them in building modular housing, and reinvest 100% of profits to expand opportunity. From entry-level micro-enterprises to careers in the skilled trades, we create real pathways to a living wage—scaling community impact across Michigan and beyond.
OUR INNOVATIVE PROGRAM
We believe quality housing is simply out of reach for too many people. In 2024, a Harvard study found that for the first time ever over 30% of all renters at every income level were housing burdened. With more than 30% of their income going to housing, basic needs fall by the wayside. If an emergency occurs, it all too often means tragedy for families and individuals living on the edge.
So what are we doing about it?
Ideas to Action is building a new model for community development by creating a vertically integrated ecosystem that trains individuals in technical, home service, and construction skills, connects them to living-wage careers through modular housing micro-factories and industry partners, and scales through local collaborations—enabling replication across the U.S. and beyond.
Our self-sustaining social business model reinvests 100% of profits into the mission, using micro-enterprise training—such as appliance repair and leasing—as on-ramps to advanced careers in housing construction. In doing so, we build homes, build lives, and build community.
But we are not stopping there...
All too often housing is not enough. That's why we're partnering with established trusted local partners to bring the services that are so desperately needed right to the door of our community members. Childcare, mental and physical healthcare, community gardens, emergency assistance, job training, transportation and much much more will all be onsite within each community.
In short, we believe the members of our community have everything they need within themselves to thrive. They just need the opportunity to show it and a path to home ownership.
And thus, the 7 year journey begins.
